Couch Cover Measuring Guide (Loose Fit)

A beautiful loose linen couch cover starts with accurate measurements. This guide shows what to measure for a neat, relaxed drape — without guesswork.
If you’d like sizing confirmation and a price calculation, message us your measurements (photos are very helpful) and include your country + postal code.

What you’ll need

• Measuring tape
• Notes app
• A few clear photos of your sofa (front + side)
• Optional: a helper

Before you measure

1.  Decide your coverage:
Seat only
Seat + back
Full sofa (including arms)

2.  Note any special features:
Chaise / sectional / recliners / fixed cushions / tufting / extra-thick arms, etc.

3.  Choose your look:
Tucked-in look (you’ll tuck fabric into gaps; some parts of the sofa may show)
Relaxed drape (more coverage and a softer, flowing look)

Visual Measuring Guide

How to measure a sofa for a loose linen cover: width and depth scheme (Depth x Width).

Standard sofa: measure total Width (front) and total Depth (side). Needed loose cover size = Depth × Width.

How to measure a sectional sofa for a loose linen cover: L-shaped needs two covers, U-shaped needs three covers.

Caption (optional): Sectionals: L-shaped usually needs 2 covers; U-shaped usually needs 3 covers. Measure each section separately.

1) Measure width (left to right)

Measure the main areas you want covered:

Seat width (left to right across the seating area)
Back width (left to right across the back)
Arm width (optional) — measure each arm if you want the arms covered

2) Measure depth & drop

Seat depth (front edge of the seat to the back cushion)
Back height (from seat level to the top of the back)
Desired drop (how far you want the fabric to fall down the front/sides)

Add extra fabric (recommended)

Because our covers are loose fit, we recommend adding extra allowance depending on the look you want:

Tucked look: add extra for the areas you’ll tuck into gaps
Relaxed drape: add extra for a fuller, softer fall

General guide: add 10–20 cm (4–8”) to both width and depth measurements.

Sectionals & L-shaped sofas

Standard sofa: usually 1 cover
L-shaped sectional: usually 2 separate covers
U-shaped sectional: usually 3 covers

For sectionals, please send measurements for each section separately (Depth × Width for each cover).

Common mistakes

• Measuring only the flat seat and ignoring arms/curves
• Not deciding coverage style before measuring
• Missing photos for unusual shapes (chaise, recliner, deep seats)
